88 iron and manganese mining permits in Goa have been quashed by the Supreme Court today. Goa is one of the country's top producers of the steelmaking raw material. Senior Telugu Desam Party (TDP) leader Gali Muddu Krishnama Naidu passed away on Tuesday night. He was 71-year-old. Naidu passed away at around 2:50 AM in a Hyderabad hospital.

He had held the cabinet post in the Ministry for Education, Forest and Higher Education and has a record of being elected for six terms to the State Assembly.

A car fell down a gorge in Champawat's Sawala area of Uttarakhand today. At least eight people were killed in the incident.
